A strong cold front will pass through the Twin Tiers tonight, ushering in arctic air into the Twin Tiers. Temperatures are expected to drop through the 20s and into the mid and upper teens by daybreak. Gusty winds in combination with the cold temperatures will drive wind chills down into the single digits at times. Other than a few flurries, most of the overnight will be dry with partial clearing expected. Much colder conditions are likely tomorrow with daytime temperatures struggling to reach the mid 20s. Winds will remain strong out of the southwest with gusts topping 30 mph at times. Wind chill values will remain dangerously cold with readings in the single digits and lower teens. Significant lake effect snow will be on-going across western New York where 2 to 3 feet of snow could pile up just to the south of Buffalo. Locally, a passing flurry or light snow shower is possible, but much of the time will be dry with partly sunny skies. A weak system will approach the region on Wednesday with increasing clouds giving way to the chance for scattered snow showers at night. Temperatures will remain below average with highs near 30. Any accumulation will be minor with an inch or less expected Wednesday night. Thursday will feature a mix of sun and clouds with a few more snow showers possible on Friday. Temperatures will remain below average with highs in the lower 30s. Looking ahead to the weekend, high pressure will bring with it fair skies on Saturday with highs in the mid 30s. A warmer breeze will develop on Sunday along with increasing clouds and the chance for late day showers. Expect highs in the mid 40s. The warming trend will continue into early next week with lingering showers and highs near 50.
