A team of Model T Fords will converge in Batesville on Friday when the Arkansas Tin Lizzies travel from Russelleville to Mountain View. The group, a chapter of the Model T Ford Club of America, will make stops at the Mark Martin Ford Museum south of Batesville at about 10 a.m. and the Old Independence Regional Museum, at about 10:30. They are scheduled to also cruise Main and College streets during their stop. “They have never been to be Batesville and wanted to see our town,” Carl Biggers, a member of the River City Cruisers, said, adding that the caravan of 10 or so model T’s is quite a sight to see. The Tin Lizzies will meet in Mountain View Oct. 10-12, according to its website, arkansastinlizzies. On Oct. 12, they will travel to Norfork and Calico Rock, traveling mainly the back roads. The Arkansas Tin Lizzies consider themselves “stewards” of the classic cars. “It is our obligation to steward not only the physical Model T, but also the knowledge, the folklore, and the spirit of the cars to pass to the next generation of owners. We need to be telling the stories as well as the knowledge of how to set the spark and adjust the gas,” according to the group’s website.
