A third victim of these types of searches. A different K-9 - TopicsExpress

A third victim of these types of searches. A different K-9 involved this time. Robert underwent something similar (though not as thorough) several years ago when crossing into the US from a morning spent in Mexico where he had his car painted by friends there. After a strip search, Border Patrol officers held him in a windowless room for hours, where he was never told why he was being detained or even allowed a phone call (you can imagine what was going through his head, and mine, when he didnt arrive home on time). They also trashed his car before releasing him without explanation (he was simply let out of his cell, heard a door buzz open, and was told to walk through it, end of story). Because it was federal agents that stopped and held him, we had no recourse after the fact, as per the Patriot Act. The NDAA, which Obama has since signed into law, further empowers agents to take these sorts of actions without having to answer for them. So, while city and county cops may be investigated for their conduct in such cases, and attorneys may file cases against these departments and the officers involved, no such recourse exists where Feds are concerned. Something to ponder for those who favor the enforcement of laws involving personal choices like drug possession.
