A towing scam is occurring in Austin, Texas in front of the business Crossfit in the 700 block of East 3rd Street. This area has City of Austin Pay Stations so motorists can pay and attach the receipt to their windshields after parking. Reliant Towing has been towing from area near this posted towing sign, without authorization. An Austin city employee with Traffic Signs Dept told me, "one of his technicians asked a female employee of Crossfit about towing, "she replied they tow at will and nobody calls them to tow the vehicles away, on public of right of way. The city employee relayed this information to the Austin Police Department, that responded a vehicle owner towed would have to file a complaint, before they would become involved. So, this criminal activity continues near the Austin Convention Center unabated until victims come forward, although APD has a complete list of license plate numbers, reported by the towing company towed from this area.
