A tribute to those who serve with special thoughts of my fellow veterans on this site. Our Heroes Sleep in the Silent City: The warm southern breeze gently kisses the flag waving proudly over the Silent City. Three young soldiers stand tall as the towering oak sentries that guard this hallowed ground. The order is given; ready arms! and they bring their rifles up smartly, aiming at the sky. Fire! and three shots ring out as one. Again the command, fire is given as the first shots echo over the hills. As the last command is given to fire the sound has barely ended as the soulful wail of a bugle peals the final Taps! The flag is reverently folded from atop the casket and solemnly presented to the young mother. Barely a woman, but a widow still. Now he sleeps among comrades from other wars, some fought before he was born. His final resting place is marked by a small white monument, one among thousands. Sleep well soldier and await the final Reveille. When we shall all stand before the Great Commander of the Universe! Copyright2006
