A very good morning everyone, how are you ? Here we are at sea and heading to Glacier Bay and beyond and like yesterday the weather is a bit grey, overcast and there is drizzle in the air. But that did not stop the guests yesterday standing out in the rain in their macs and hooded raincoats armed with binoculars as we cruised through the amazing Inside Passage. The naturalist Michelle who has that David Attenborough excitement and in her voice when she tells people she has seen an Eagle in need of Rogaine. Tomorrow we will have the Park Rangers come on the ship and they will give announcements over the PA about whales and glaciers and the stunning and savage beauty that Alaska offers. Yep, it is obvious that the guests are here for that and I shall be careful when I am the Cruise Director not to whale spotting and glacier sightings with an announcement about the Inch of Gold Special in the gift shop. I was up very early this morning and had breakfast on Lido at 7:10am and was shocked to see that so many people were already out and about. It is also interesting to see that the bacon here is self service, there are new breakfast items like Apple Panatone and three types of Gluten Free bread. At 7:15am after some protein and no carb breakfast I walked through the casino to the coffee ship and I kid you not, there must have been 50 or more people playing the slots………….at 7:15 am. Now I don’t gamble or understand the passion people have for slot machines. And I understand less how at 7:15am when I am still half asleep and whipping bits of grit from my eyes how people can sit on a stool, connect their sail and sign card to the mains………….and press that button. Don’t get me wrong, we love you for doing it and please don’t stop. But my question for you this morning is this: Do you play the slots? How do you decide what slot machine to play? Cheers
