A very touching day for the antifracking movement in Romania, UK and Europe. Sandu Popescu, the man who has been walking from Ploiesti, Romania, up to Brussels, to deliver his anti-fracking and anti cyanide speech in the European Parliament. He has walked 3000 km, passed 7 countries, met hundreds of people whom he has explained what he is doing, and why and impressed everybody with his mental strength. He is the man who has been on hunger strike for 22 days, sleeping under the cold winter sky of Bucharest to draw attention on the abuses of the Romanian Riot Police against the people of Pungesti, who were opposing fracking. His example stuck to the minds of many Romanians and people in the world, who will always remember Sanu POpescu as the man who started the longes antifracking hunger strike ever. All this people helped him along his impressive journey on foot, through Europe. Some of the in Romania or abroad living Romanians have travelled to Bruxelles today, to join Sandu on this very important day for the antifracking fight. His speech was delivered within the European Parliament on the Romanian National Day, a symbol to tell that his own voice and the voice of the Romanian people is no longer heard by its authorities. He is now trying to bring his message to another level, to the European Parliament and to the European Commission, hoping that the concept of democracy and human rightsare not entirely ruined in the European Union due to the massive pro-fracking lobby. Before the reception in the European Parliament, an autorised March started from the European Parliament to the European Commission. Ban fracking now, ban cyanide! #stopfracking #pungesti #bartonmoss #frackfreeeurope
