A way to insure our unhappiness is to spend our life trying to make everybody happy. Im amazed and amused at how often I have other people, write me or comment on what I should or shouldnt be doing. While Im always open to feedback and love to grow, if I tried to change who I was just to make them happy, I would go insane. I used to spend a lot of time and energy being a pleaser, always driven by the need to be liked. I was afraid of rejection. A negative comment or disapproving look would devastate me, and send me in a timid tailspin where I would hold myself back and wear a mask to gain their approval. That was exhausting. Whats great is God gives each of us our own dreams, our own drives that are unique to us. We each get to define for ourselves who we want to be, and what it means for us to live BIG. How could we possibly expect anyone else to know what is best for us? My life is my creation. My masterpiece. I take full accountability for it. The good and the bad. I love my life, every ounce of it. I love who I am, every bit. The light and the shadow. Ive graduated from the need to change who I am to make someone else happy, or to make them more comfortable. I am happy to be me, just as I am. A perfectly imperfect me.
