A week ago I asked for input on whether I should compete on stage again or not. By unanimous consensus I was encouraged to follow my heart and then I would know what to do. Turns out I do, and I WILL NOT be returning to the stage in August to compete with Fitness STAR International. With many thanks to my great friend and mentor, also President of FSI and my family supporting me I know that my abilities go beyond that of a fitness model. My desire has been from day 1 and always will be to motivate and inspire others to radically change their lives. (I will however still be in Toronto for the Canfitpro Convention in August among thousands of experts being given the opportunity to teach my own seminar) In addition, in light of much political after math from the Western Classic this weekend, which is a continuation of ongoing battles within our provincial federation, I also have no desire to compete on stage while things are the way they currently are. My heart is saddened to hear how many new, first timer competitors left feeling discouraged, embarrassed, broken and defeated. As such most confirm they have no desire to compete again. This is really upsetting, as my hope is that everyone would understand THE STAGE DOES NOT DEFINE YOU. Regardless of your placing, trophy and opportunity to advance, each individual got off their ass and gave it their all. Myself, having lost so much weight and having tummy issues, I cannot wear the suits required and cover up myself either, though I am in elite lean condition. Due to this and many other reasons, I lose out on the coveted PRO status that graces the fitness magazine until some smart person realizes you dont have to just have a PRO card to be beautiful and strong. There are countless other disciplines that produce outstanding athletes and should also make the covers. SO, if I am going to compete again, I am pretty darn sure it is strongman. These nails come off tomorrow and I am going to garden this weekend and flip some tires, which I could not do with these pretty things on.
