A week ago I went to Chicago for the first time. I was amazed and wowed by the city. Here in Jackson I walk around, and I am stared at. I understand this. I am six foot (in flats) and have the hair of a Jim Henson Creature. I wear Neon Green like it is going out of style and laugh way too loud. But the looks I get in my hometown are of shock, fear, disgust...but not in Chicago. I was looked at..oh yes. But in a way of acceptance, appreciation of my art and with friendliness. I had to ask for directional help not once or twice...but like SEVEN times. Every single person I asked for help was MORE than helpful...they were accommodating, kind, overflowing with the information I needed. The mashup of diversity was intoxicating. My head swirled with ideas, creativity and LIFE. Everywhere I looked had something beautiful about it...from the architecture to flavor of life. I want to thank you CHICAGO, thank you for being AMAZING...
