A well spent Sunday night at the theatre. Last Days in Vietnam The people in this docu deserves the merit to be called a Hero. Those dramatic rescues are so intense that you couldnt imagine being there waiting hopelessly to be saved by the Americans from the incoming perils of the North Vietnam invaders. Saigon was in the midst of chaos and despair and everyone wanted to get out but the resources are limited. The US servicemen tried their best and break alot of protocols just to save the people of South Vietnam. One of the most dramatic moments in this docu is when desperate military people used up their aviation vehicle to save their family and take refuge in one of the US Naval ship stationed in the South Sea of Vietnam. Viet helicopters where thrown away in the sea following their rescue because the US ship wont accommodate them, it was their only last solution. Their comes one point when a Viet Cheenok manuevered around the ship and threw everyone on board including a few weeks old baby because the ship wont accomodate that big craft. In times of desperation you do unbelievable things that put questions to the experts. The Cheenok pilot unbelievably took of his pilot suit while still flying the machine and made his way out of the vehicle safe and alive minutes after he made that unbelievable escape. At the end Of the Saigon escape, thousands of Vietnamese and US fleets where in the South China Sea on their way to take refuge to the PhilIppines. The heartbreaking part of this docu is when they tried to lower down the Viet flag in exchanged to the US flag for them to be honored in the Philippines. Vietnamese refugees sang their anthem while they lower their flag a big sign of their loss, a sorrowful sign of losing their beloved Vietnam. It was powerful, moving, an eye opener and a great reminder for humanity that in tImes of need their will always good people that will cross their line to help their fellow human setting aside their race or their differences even if they will break the rules or break the protocol from their superiors.
