A while back I downloaded a GEICO app that allows IOWA drivers to show proof of car insurance on their phone. Well today I got to put that app to use! Yessiree!! On the way home from work (rt outside Wheatland, by the way) I got pulled over for speeding. The cop says, do you know why you were going 72mph in a 55 zone? I said long work day, anxious to get home. I then produced my license, registration & insurance. The cop says your insurance card expired in June. My heart sank, I thought wtf? I was frantically searching for my up-to-date card, but then I said, oh wait I have my insurance on my phone. He was like, what? But then being the nice cop, he let me sit in his car & show him on my phone my proof of insurance; He was impressed; he says he has never seen that before. Im thinking omg! He then gave me a warning & reduced my speed to 60mph and gave me a ticket. $87 later I drove away feeling relieved for a lesser fine but happy I put that app on my phone!!
