A winter morning. Open skies. Sun mellow, let us say, गुनगुना. Undulating land. A little lake. Ducks. Squirrels. Peepal tree. And?! Rasa. The juice of Life. Pratha, a unique baithak series begins this Sunday. Ancient traditions, experiment. Creating new experiences. Carnatic Vocals play with the sounds of Sarangi. To which dances the graceful, Bharatanatyam. Sound. Music. Silence. Movement. Beauty. Stillness. - But first. The invocation. To free our senses. The eyes, the ears, the smell, the touch, the taste. Of the dust of urban kashmksh, struggles. To take you from the clutter of the mind. Into a zone. Timeless. Infinite. Into which can drop ... the rasa. The Beauty. The Pratha, eternal. For this, i will be invoking an ancient meditation sutra from Kashmir. The land which has given the basis of Indias performing arts in the book of books, Natyashastra. And the basis, the inner calling has been just one. To lead you into a space of Oneness. Where all divisions dissolve. Call it kala, ishq, ibadat, dhyan ... all are just an excuse to lead you to that space of Utter Wonder. That has been Indias unique pratha. - #Pratha Sunday Baithak Features * Sudha Raghuraman, the soulful Carnatic singer. Awarded with the Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Ustad Bismillah Khan Award for Dance Music. * Suhail Yusuf Khan, the experimental eighth-generation sarangi player. Suhail comes from an illustrious family of classical musicians of the Senia Moradabad gharana. He is popularly known for giving the fusion rock band Adviata its unique sarangi sound. Nehha Bhatnagar, the dynamic Bharatanatyam danseuse, warm-hearted entrepreneur, a prominent speaker and curator on the TEDx circuit. Nehha is a much loved disciple of Padmashri Guru Dr. Saroja Vaidyanathan.
