A wise man told me a story he heard from another wise man yesterday...no, not those wise men... But still, very credible. Anyway, to sum it up, this man was on a river rafting excersion with his family and the rapids got so fierce he feared his wife & daughter would be thrown overboard. So he instinctively threw his arms out to protect them. Instead of protecting them, he was catapulted into the rapids, fighting for his life while he listened to his family pleading for him to return safely. Im not sure what the moral of the story was... But the story itself struck something within me profoundly... The message I heard was about self love and connection with something greater than myself. Sometimes I cloud my perception, thinking Im taking care of myself by giving myself to others through service. But if I havent made time for me, and set time aside to connect with my spirit... Am I not vulnerable to being tossed into the rapids, rendering myself helpless to those who truly need me? My commitment to honor myself is the gift I choose for me this holiday season.
