A woman of the street walked in and anointed the head of Jesus - TopicsExpress

A woman of the street walked in and anointed the head of Jesus with her flask of aromatic oil, the most valuable of all her possessions. The act seemed rash, almost improper, and provoked criticism even among the disciples - an absurd piece of extravagance showing no evidence of temperate behavior. But Jesus read the depths of her soul. He knew what this mad act meant. He said “He that is forgiven much loves much.” Jesus did not say “He who is given much loves much”, but “He who is forgiven much”. The prodigal son had been given much. His father had spoiled him and given him everything he could. But the money did not create any relationship. The father could not buy his son’s affection. Then came the moment of truth, the return of the prodigal, and far beyond money came the communication of love. But being forgiven was a gift with a quality that demanded more than a hand, it demanded a heart: a heart to give and a heart to receive. The son could take money in his hand from the Father’s hand, but he could not take forgiveness as a mere hand-out. He could offer thanks in return for money, but the only return for forgiveness was love. The moral of the story? Conservative Republican lawmakers are rich--they have been given everything from their father (the American taxpayers), and their spoils have not yet run out; therefore there is no reason to forgive them and no way to cause them to love unless we bankrupt our country and force them to see the consequences of their selfish demands. Do we really want to have to go that far to teach idiots a lesson? Think--stop supporting Republitards and their Republitard lack of ideas. This has been a public service announcement from an educated citizen. Thank you.
