A word of Thanks to all who have reached out to Val and our entire family this past week in the loss of Vals dad Kenny. So many have been so generous with their kind words, deeds and gifts. It is all appreciated so much. Your prayers and your hugs have helped us begin to heal from this loss. Though there will now always be a hole in our family, it comforts us to know we have good friends to lean on. From this experience, I have learned to be fully engaged in conversations - you never know when it might be your last - put the phone down! I have learned that even the smallest gesture or kind word means so much when someone has suffered a loss. I wish I would have done more for those who have gone through this in the past - I now understand the depth of their pain. I will never again send or give a sympathy card without putting our mailing address on the inside (thanks for the suggestion Nicole). The family so badly wants to acknowledge everyone, but simply signing with first names sometimes doesnt allow them to do that and not having to search for addresses even of close friends is a huge favor to those writing thank you cards.
