ABC is not catching nearly enough heat for their shameful misrepresentation of the Iatest Israeli operation in Gaza. The small retraction and apology is frankly too little, too late. The damage has been done. Frankly, I am horrified when anybody gets killed. But the reporting by major media outlets has been ridiculously one-sided. The example I gave a few days ago, straight from the BBC, is striking in its language: ISRAEL UNDER ATTACK Palestinian militants fire more rockets at Israeli cities after the start of a major air and sea offensive by Israel in the Gaza Strip. And the best one can hope for is false equivalence, as if it was an even conflict. Look at the amount of casualties. Look at each sides living conditions. Look at who has all the highest tech weaponry. Look who lives behind walls. Look who is detained for apparently no reason, whether they are 8 years old or 80 years old. I certainly would never support any extremists in any way, and in fact am utterly repelled by them. but who has laid the conditions for extremists to even be relevant? And how are not those laying out the conditions, and indoctrinating in a generation more hate, not labelled extremist by the mainstream media? The whole thing is an absurd sideshow, and these organizations will be forever stained with the shame that future generations will look at this, just as some of us view the complicity with the South Africa regime as a great shame. No longer journalists. Just mouthpieces.
