ACB LEAGUE, XAVI PASCUAL LAUNCHED THE YOUNG TALENT HEZONJA (CLASS 1995) AND FC BARCELONA DOMINATED! The 23rd round of the ACB League Regular Season saw the sensational performance made by a very young talent Hezonja, who signed the large victory got by Pascuals FC Barcelona over Comenges Manresa, while on the other courts, unfortunately the teams of Alonso, Grimau and Sanz (who wasnt in roster) all lost. Lets see what happened game by game. ACB League Regular Season, Spain: Sunday, March 16th - Game 23: FC Barcelona vs La Bruixa dOr Manresa 91-63 No matter if just two days before Xavi Pascuals FC Barcelona dominated the court against Olympiacos Piraeus in the Top 16 of the Euroleague, Barça came back on the same home court of Palau Blaugrana with the right character, attitude and motivation to play another great game in the league, this time against Borja Comenges La Bruixa dOr Manresa, defeated by a very large +28. No matter the distance in the ranking (Barça is always 3rd, 17-6, while Manresa stayed as 16th, 6-17), the most unbelievable thing about Xavis team is the fantastic ability to regenerate itself game by game. So, if in the last round of the ACB the main protagonist was the young Alex Abrines, today it was the time for the... extra-young Mario Hezonja, the 201 cm tall forward born in Dubrovnik, Croatia, in... 1995! The teammates enjoyed to assist him and make him become the MVP of the game, and Mario thanked them back writing a sensational performance, made of 26 points (shooting with 5/6 from 2pt, 4/6 from 3pt and 4/4 from ft) more 5 rebounds and 1 steal for 29 of evaluation in 21. Manresa couldnt do anything to stop the show orchestred by Barça, resisting just in the first quarter (20-19) and then falling down for the rest of the game (44-29 at the halftime, 61-48 at 30, until the final 91-63). Sunday, March 15th - Game 23: Herbalife Gran Canaria vs Bilbao Basket 77-70 Third loss in a row for Bilbao Basket in the ACB League, where the team is 11th placed with 9-14. This time it happened on the court of Herbalife Gran Canaria (4th, 16-7) by 7 points, after fighting quarter by quarter: Bilbao was up by 4 at 10 (18-22) but down by 3 at the halftime (46-43), then down by 4 at 30 (65-61) without finding the way to react in the fourth quarter, suffering a short 12-9 partial that advantaged Gran Canaria writing the final 77-70. After some very brilliant performances, Roger Grimau scored 4 points more 2 rebounds and 1 assist in 15 Sunday, March 15th - Game 23: FIACT Joventut Badalona vs Gipuzkoa Basket 76-65 This time, Sito Alonso didnt overcame his past as, and Gipuzkoa Basket lost on the court of FIATC Joventut Badalona by 11 points. Joventut is now 9th placed (11-12), while Gipuzkoa 12th (9-14). The game was extremely balanced for three quarters (21-21, 37-38, 56-54), then the home players outscored the guests for 20-11 in the fourth quarter, running away and closing the game on 76-65. It was the 9th loss in the last 11th games for Gipuzkoa, but the team has the strenght and the attitude to recover in the coming future, as well as both the club management and the players have already showed to follow the head coach. Sunday, March 15th - Game 23: CAI Zaragoza vs Rio Natura Monbus Obradoiro 85-58 If Rio Natura Monbus Obradoiro couldnt do anything to stop Real Madrid in the last round, the team didnt show anything better in this one, losing by 27 points on the court of CAI Zaragoza (6th ranked with 14-9) and staying at the 10th place (10-13). The game was already compromised after the first quarter on 27-14, then Obradoiro tried to recover in the second one reducing the gap by points (43-35) but Zaragoza won the third quarter by 4 (61-49) and finally ran away in the fourth one, with the tremendous 24-9 break that wrote the final distance. Once more Iñaki Sanz wasnt in the team roster for this game.
