ACCIDENT UPDATE: I couldnt get this to share across from Cathys page...so Ive copied and pasted Cathy Fergusons words and pictures. This is an update straight from her........ It has been almost 2 weeks since tragedy changed my life. Bright and early on Saturday morning, July 19th I was headed to Castle Rock for the Mile Hi Barrel Horse race when I was broadsided by a car that ran a stop sign driving at a high rate of speed. I had 3 horses in the trailer and they all went through the dividers and the front wall between the horse compartment and the dressing room. Parr was in the first stall and ended up in the bed of the goose neck with both his front feet through the window. I would like to thank the people (whoever they are) in the cars behind me who helped as much as they could to get Casino and Kid Rock out of the trailer. Crews on scene had given up on Parr who was trapped in the front. Kenny was working nearby and showed up in time to get Parr out of the window and turned around to exit the trailer. We were fortunate enough to have been close to home and to have had the support of Littleton Equine Medical Center at the scene. Littleton had 3 vet trucks, multiple staff and a surgeon to assist in evaluating the horses at that time. After evaluation, Littleton helped prep the animals to be hauled to their facility for further care. Parr and Casino had to stay at the clinic in ICU for multiple days, they were later released to come home and Littleton made many visits to the house for follow-ups. I would like to say how grateful I am for their support during this time. There are not many clinics who could have handled that extent of injury to 3 horses at one time. Please consider using them for any need that you might have and recommend them to everyone you know – they are amazing! Currently, Kid Rock and Parr are at home. Kid Rock needs some teeth pulled but is otherwise doing good. Parr is doing well but has a long road ahead of him with healing and protection from infection. Casino was put to rest this week, the extent of his injuries to the severed tendon were just too much. I appreciate the outpouring of support from family, friends, and even those I do not know – I am truly grateful for your generous thoughts/actions and prayers.
