ACCOUNTABILITY: YOUR ATTITUDE MATTERS If Ive messed up and somebodys going to try to straighten me out, it sure helps if that person comes in humility. Because, immature as I still am, if I feel that somebody is talking down to me, Ill push back and do the opposite, just to demonstrate that you cant push me around. When you see someone whose life is spiraling downward and summon up your nerve to get involved, attitude is everything. Love them enough to risk their rejection. Speak with a repentant heart and a soft voice. James reminds us, Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom (James 3:13). That humble wisdom doesnt come easily. If you have it, its because youve learned some of your life lessons the hard way. Your words may be just that much more believable if youve benefited from someone elses spiritual help. If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. (James 3:13 NLT)
