ADAMAWA: INVESTIGATIVE PANEL CONCLUDES SITTING The panel investigating the allegations leveled against Gov. Murtala Nyako of Adamawa and his Deputy, Mr Bala Ngilari, by the State House of Assembly has concluded its sitting on Saturday. The panel was constituted last Friday by the state Acting Chief Judge, Justice Amnrose Mammadi, following a request by the state assembly. The seven-man panel, which commenced sitting on Friday, rounded up it sitting on Saturday without the respondents (Governor and his Deputy) appearing before the panel. The panel had on Friday after listening to the assembly’s counsels, who tendered exhibits including video clips, directed the Governor and his Deputy to be served to appear or send representatives to defend them. However, at the resumed sitting on Saturday, neither the governor nor his deputy or their representatives showed up at the panel’s sitting. The panel after waiting in vain for representatives of the governor and deputy governor went ahead to watched a video clip tendered as exhibit Y. It also cross examined the only witnessed presented by the House, Mr Wafarninyi Theman, who is the House Committee Chairman on Public Account. Counsels to the assembly at the Saturday sitting, Mr Hussaini Maidawa and Mr Leonard Nzadon, who led Theman in giving evidence, concluded their respective presentations. The counsel urged the panel to take their applications against the governor and deputy governor as a proven case of the allegations of gross misconduct raised in view of the absence of any contrary argument. Responding, the Chairman, Malam Buba Kaigama, said the panel would take its time to go over the presentations and other evidences provided by the assembly objectively and come out with its position in a later date. Kaigama announced that although the respondents had failed to appear, the panel had concluded its assignment having heard from the assembly, being one of the parties involved in the matter
