ADDRESSING THE MEETING ON`` PROTECTION OF ODIYA LANGUAGE`` HELD AT BHUBANESWAR TODAY (9/03/2014). Due to personal request of Sj Baishnab Charan Parida, honourable Member of Parliament (MP) who also presided the meting, I attended the above and also spoke for ten minutes. All those who were either present or spoke happen to be eminent person of Odisha. This meeting had got special significance in view of the recent classical tag attached to Odiya language. Some of my views given below (1) An odiya should learn three languages ; first one is our mother tongue; second one is national language- Hindi and third one is English. Strengthening Odiya doesnt mean weakening English (2) Make compulsory Odiya as one paper in all educational institution from class one to graduation level including technical education except who migrates from other state (3) However, strengthen English in all Odiya medium School so that many students may not run after English medium school (4) Provide incentives in form of increment or promotion to those who do their official jobs in Odiya (5) Approach should be realistic not just theoretical.
