ADVENTURES IN GROCERY SHOPPING- Episode 413 - The Immovable Object. You know who I admire? Those people that float through life totally unaware of the the space that they occupy. Completely oblivious to other human beings. We encounter them all the time, although their spawning ground seems to be the aisles of the grocery store. They move at a slower pace than the rest of us, and the only rule that they operate under is that they take any space they are in and divide it in half and stand in the middle. Its perfect. Because by doing that, it prevents anyone else from moving forward at anything faster than THEIR pace, the snail crawl, as it were. And words like excuse me and pardon me are just sounds, like the rustling of wind through the imaginary trees in their mind. They hear something, look around absently, and then shrug their shoulders as if they imagined it, and continue to plod on, as if wearing hip waders in some far away bog. Ah, to be that carefree and unaware. Its truly a beautiful thing. It would be much like driving down the highway, straddling the center lane, at around 15 mph in a 65 mph zone. And you hear the sound of beeping horns, and you say to yourself, What is that noise? I hear it, but I simply dont know what it is or where its coming from. And you would ask yourself, What is that sound? Its some sort of music, but Im not sure where its coming from or what its purpose is. But eventually youd ignore it and continue to ooze along in your own personal quagmire. I want to be like that. I want to have nowhere to go, and all the time in the world to get there. To pass by these other beings every day, these blobs of oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus, but to have no concept of how they relate to me and the rest of the world. Thats what I want. It would be glorious. And when I do get to that point, that state of Nirvana where only I exist, I simply ask of you one thing. Please shoot me.
