ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE:( I have a daughter that is 10 yrs old who has Down syndrome. She isnt fully potty trained but real close to it. We just moved to a new state very very small town and she was refused school in our town but sent to a school 17 miles away still in the district and its just a public school like the one we have in town. It took them over 6 weeks to get her in. In the beginning they wanted me to bring her in an hr everyday after school to do her schooling. I refused as I do not think thats fair. So I finally agreed to the school thats 17 miles from home because I felt I had no choice. Since then she has been in school for about 3 1/2 weeks and we have had to take her to the dr twice due to nurses request. Once for a skin condition that she had already been seen for the second time for pink eye after I told the nurse she has allergies and for touching her private part. Now the school wants me to sign a medical form release. I have told them of her medical conditions and surgeries which include,heart repair,strabismus repair and colon surgery. Her medical conditions are epilepsy,sleep apnea,seasonal allergies and she has the skin rash molescum contagious,Im sure my spelling is wrong on that. When we signed her in school I signed a form saying I did not want them to give any medication without calling me first. She has issues with anyone touching her ears and eyes. Last week she went on a field trip to the lake on a very windy day and when she came back her eyes were watery so the nurse gave saline eye drops then called me. Yes I know it is just saline but I signed a paper saying I didnt want anything given without talking to me first. I know what a fight it is to give her eyes drops and if they werent needed I dont think they should have been given. Now since I said I didnt want anything given they wont even use the first aid wash to clean scraps if she gets any. I need advice. I feel pushed around and feel like they arent wanting to deal with her. We took her to the dr for the eyes which like I said no pink eye just allergies and as far as the touching her private he said is just like for other children that she will outgrow it. Do I have to sign the medical release is my question. One very stressed mommy
