ADVICE NEEDED for Special Mom Hi I am in desperate need of some help and advice. I have two kids that I have questions about. My daughter is 5 and in Kindergarden. She has thankfully had early intervention. She was diagnosed to be on the spectrum and have PDDNOS, she also has a lot of issues with fine and gross motor and has had OT and PT services along with speech therapy. She also has learning delays. She has made a lot of progress. She currently has special Ed services as well and has an IEP. They just told me that her you her state of MO has ran out for her young child with learning delay and we have to test her and they where concerned that the would qualify for services. I am totally upset b/c without these services I dont know where she would be. She needs the services. It is like taking away her greenhouse environment. She has made progress, but only with the help she has gotten. A para has been with her a lot. They said they had to do over 10 hours of testing and is having me fill out forms I think cause I asked to...anyways what do I do if they dont want to provide services anymore? Do I get an advocate before or after they tell me she wont qualify? I already signed them to start testing. They said they have to do testing before and have it done by March 19... Per the state? They even said they where gonna retest her for autism? I know I am not the schools favorite as I take more time and so does my child than the average parent. Any advice? I dont wanna burn bridges but know I am already not liked cause of other issues as well. Child 2 we had tested for Missouri first steps and he missed getting help by a little. Then we had testing up at the school and he showed delay and was tested and missed it by 2 PTs in one area and 3 in another and did not get any help. I was divi stated. We have a long line of learning delays and dad has Aspergers and grandma dyslexia. The only services we have had for him is parents as teachers. He tested again and shows delta so they want to do further testing. If he does not qualify again what should I do. He needs the help. He I believe to have sensory processing disorder and ADHD. I know he is young. We just had a not eval and she said that they cant diagnosis with spd? They will see him every other week. He cant focus is super rough breaks toys etc. I am overwinter and just want my kids to get the help they need. We are on a 8 month waiting list to see a developmental peds doc. Any recommendations or advice? Thanks
