AGIA THEODORA. Vasta, Near Magalopoli, in the region [County] of Arkadia on the Peloponnese. Built probably round the 12th century. Today, 11th September, is the celebration of Her nameday. A small church with seventeen (17) trees growing on its roof. The trees springing from the roof while their roots, which are not visible at all, pass through the walls to reach the ground. It is certain that if humans intervene to cut the trees the church will be destroyed. The abundant water running in the creek below St. Theodora church waters the trees. Both river and trees are significant, in the prayer St. Theodora said before becoming a martyr, my hair to become trees and my blood a river . Pilgrims visit the church to worship and admire th every year. The last few kilometres from Megalopoli are on a downhill, windy dirt road The visitor is compensated by the lush vegetation and crystal clear waters that surround the church.
