AICTE COUNSELING IN VALLEY: LIMITED CHOICE OF COLLEGES BEING GIVEN: STUDENTS Srinagar, Sep 1 (KNS): The students undergoing counseling for the Prime Minister’s scholarship programme by AICTE, Monday said that they are being given limited choice of colleges that too in North India region only. The students while talking to KNS stated that counseling by AICTE team is being conducted in SP College of Srinagar from the last few days and that the choice being offered to the students if merely from the 20 north India colleges. They added that when they brought the issue before the notice of the AICTE officials, who are at present on valley tour, the officials shrugged their shoulders- stating that only in these colleges, the students can enroll themselves. Reports informed KNS that there are around 8-10 AICTE officials including the Director Administration on the state tour and are holding counseling sessions in Srinagar’s S.P college. It was informed further that under the scholarship program, various courses are being offered to the students of valley including Engineering, BDS, BBA, MBA besides several others. The students said that despite there are AICTE approved institutions across India in hundreds, why the limited 20 colleges are being offered to them. Smelling rat into the issue, the students stated that there must be the wide choice into the scholarship scheme so that they could chose the institute wherein they would feel secure. Meanwhile, after the repeated attempts, the contact with the director administration Dr R.S. Rathore could not fructify. (KNS)
