AJEX CAPE TOWN NEW Keagan Dolly was once hailed as the next - TopicsExpress

AJEX CAPE TOWN NEW Keagan Dolly was once hailed as the next Steven Pienaar, and when you watch him play it’s easy to see why the comparison was made. Like Pienaar Dolly is a bustling attacking midfielder who likes to score goals, the similarities does not end there. Keagan hails from the same suburb as Steven (Westbury) and played for the same amateur club as the Everton star, Westbury Arsenal. Dolly was selected to attend the School of Excellence in Gauteng before he was snapped-up by the Mamelodi Sundowns Youth Academy. In 2011, Dolly moved to Ikamva to further his professional football ambitions. The move proved to be the spark needed to propel him into the professional ranks. After touring Europe with the Ajax Cape Town U19 team, playing in the Eurovoetbal and Copa Amsterdam tournaments he was promoted to the Ajax Cape Town PSL team. After a quiet start to his football career at Ikamva, Keagan has developed into a complete footballer capable of taking the opposition apart with deft passing and his close ball-control that enables him to dribble past his marker....... Playing just behind the strikers in the Ajax Cape Town system, Dolly is given a free role from where he is able to set-up the Urban Warriors offensive play. This season Dolly has already made 19 appearances, surpassing the 12 made in the 2012/2013 season. The diminutive Ajax midfielder has also scored three goals and collected four ABSA Premiership “Man of the Match” awards. Dolly spoke to ajaxct about the season so far. He said, “I am really enjoying my football this season. The coaches and players are all very supportive and that gives me the determination to improve my performances with every game. Last season, I was still a “newbie” in the team, learning to play with the likes of stars like Mabhudi and Khama in an attacking role. They are good players and I learnt a lot just by watching aspects of their game. This season, I was encouraged to play my football. Under Muhsin, I was required to assist defensively and spearhead the attack however with Ian and Roger I have a free role. I am able to play across the width of the field looking for the ball in all areas and encouraged to play further forward in support of our strikers. The different roles required by the various coaches helped my game a lot. It’s not made easy because the opposition’s game-plan is also a factor to consider, but I concentrate on what is asked of me and with the support of my teammates I am able to deliver on the field of play. I am enjoying my football now and I aim to work hard at improving every aspect of my game.” With special thanks to Ajax Cape Town
