AKWA IBOM OF OUR DREAM Few weeks ago, Nigerian Business Mogul, - TopicsExpress

AKWA IBOM OF OUR DREAM Few weeks ago, Nigerian Business Mogul, Chief Arthur Eze, at the event organized by the Executive Governor of Abia State, with boldness without fear of intimidation, openly told the Abia State Governor that Abia is stink and dropped the microphone on the floor and walk out of the venue of the event. Theres abject poverty in the land, and my Akwa Ibom State in particular. I look forward to see an Akwa Ibomite that will toe the courage of Prince Arthur Eze, and boldly challenge Gov. Akpabio that the life of the indigenes are deteriorating despite receiving the highest allocations from FG among the States in the country, in addition to internally generated revenues and other revenues from oil companies siting in the State. Can our Governor justifies the projects he has carried out in the state with the allocations accrues to the state account monthly? Average citizens cannot boast of three square meals. Lets be fair with ourselves. Those singing praises of uncommon service because of peanuts going to their pockets should consider tomorrow and wellbeing of the masses. The state is too rich for citizens to live in abject poverty. The state is too rich for indigenes to be dying of ordinary cholera and malaria. Even the system of education in the state is too poor. The welfare of teachers are not adequately given attention. Check the last 2014 May/June WAEC result of Akwa Ibom State, a state with meager allocation like Anambra and Abia States came top while Akwa Ibom State that are boasting of free education are far behind. Theres serious hunger and hardship in the land. If you doubt me, go to rural areas, 80% are living in stink environment while few are smiling and throwing jamborees with public funds. What kind of development are we talking about when the stomachs are empty? When workers welfare cannot be timely taken care of? When eight out of ten youths are unemployed, some are even under-employed? Few months ago, Federal Minister of Finance told our Governor that the development going on in the State is just 1% of the total allocations accrue to the state, so where are the rest of the funds flying to? Lets not shy away from the truth. Spending millions monthly to publicize the achievements on the radio and tv stations across the country is just a mere way of seeking cheap popularity to prove to the world that all is well in the state whereas the reverse is the case. 80% of our people are not smiling because the land is dry, the stomachs are empty, the welfare are ignored, few are smiling to the banks. Therefore, this is not time for imposition again. We need people friendly leaders. Not leaders that will recruit some street touts to hunt whoever that is against their paymaster like what we are witnessing in our state today. Every critiques of our leaders are seen as enemy of the state and should be issued with threatening words, is that democracy? Only leaders that have hidden secrets will want to impose successors on his people. We are too wise to entertain such in this democratic system. Akwa Ibom State is a commercial centre with great economic potentials, if our funds are prudently utilized, we can be among the tops in West Africa. Ibaka seaport, Oku Iboku Pulp & Papermills (AKIPP) and ASCON are in jeopardy, they can create over 500,000 direct and indirect job opportunities for the state and generate billions of revenue if given adequate attention. Our funds should be channel on this projects, instead of constructing gigantic projects that will not directly impact the poor masses on the streets. God bless our state. Goodluck Umahaodoho
