ALARM CLOCK! That what the Plain Antvireo is here. It sounds off literally like clockwork at 5:30 every morning; sure beats the other clock I have! And it beats the moaning & groaning of the hens waiting to be fed... Dysithamnus mentalis is a cute little bird: quite vocal, not shy and responsive to playback. Nick Athanas from Tropical Birding and Diego Calderon both helped identify their rising song recently, which had thrown me because the usual song is a series of descending whistles. A topic interesting to pursue is whether or not Plain Antvireo associates with Parkers Antbird. The subject was brought up by Xavier from Ecuador Experiences, and I am looking for more information.
