ALI IS THE RIGHT CALIPH 1. Surah 5vrs 55-56...(Certainly your Master is Allah and His Messenger and those who believe; who establish prayer and give charity while they bow. And who ever takes Allah and His Messenger and those who believe as a guardian, so surely the party of Allah will be victorious). The only person in history to EVER give away zakat whilst in sujjud was Ali ibn abu talib (as)- no one can deny that. and its funny how our sunni brothers have interpreted the word WALI in the verse to mean friend. WALI has 23 different meanings in arabic so how can it be that Allah swt is telling us to be friends with people that give zakat in sujud? how often do you see that happening? You have to look at the context and then decide what meaning you are going to use for the word, and FRIEND is not even CLOSE sura 2 v124: (And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham was tried by his Lord with commands and he fulfilled them. [ Allah ] said, Indeed, I will make you a leader for the people. [Abraham] said, And of my descendants? [ Allah ] said, My covenant does not include the wrongdoers.) surah 2 v247: (And their prophet said to them, Indeed, Allah has sent to you Saul as a king. They said, How can he have kingship over us while we are more worthy of kingship than him and he has not been given any measure of wealth? He said, Indeed, Allah has chosen him over you and has increased him abundantly in knowledge and stature. And Allah gives His sovereignty to whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing [in favor] and Knowing.) THese CLEARLY states that Allah(SWT) is the only one that can choose his caliph on earth. AND YES HE DID CHOOSE A CHALIPh While returning from his last pilgrimage, Prophet Muhammad(PBUH&HF), received the following command of Allah Surah 5 vrs 67 (O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.) Upon receiving the verse, the Prophet [s] stopped on that place (the pond of Khumm) which was extremely hot. Then he sent for all people who have been ahead in the way, to come back and waited until all pilgrims who fell behind, arrived and gathered. He ordered some sahaba to use rocks and camel toolings to make a pulpit (minbar) so he could make his announcement. He Climb the pulpit with ALi(as) and address the crowd, He said that he has been summoned by the Lord and very soon he would have to harken to the call. The time has come for him to be separated from the people and say farewell to this temporal world and move on to the perpetual abode.” Indeed, I leave among you two things such that if you remain attached to them you will never deviate after me: the Book of Allah and my progeny, my Ahlul Bayt (a.s.). The two of them will never separate till they join me at the Pool of Kauthar.” Then he asked them loud and clear: Am I not having more authority on you? All replied: “By Allah, you are having more right on us than we have on ourselves.” Then Holy Prophet (SAW) declared: Of whomsoever I am MAWLA(Leader), Ali is also his MAWLA(leader). O Allah, love those who love Ali and befriend to those who are froends to Ali. Help one who helps Ali and abandon one who abandons Ali.” (Allah HUmma Salli Alaa Muhammad Wa Aali Muhammed.)Here again our Sunni Brothers interpret the word mawla to mean friend and that the Holy Prophet was simply announcing that Imam Ali (as) was a friend to all Muslims. Why would the Holy Prophet waste time to do that?, didnt the people already know how close he was to the Imam Ali (as)? Why stop everyone in the stifling heat unless you had something important to announce? How can Muslims believe that the Holy Prophet stopped only to state that Imam Ali (as) was his friend? Would everything the Holy Prophet strived for be rendered null and void if he didnt announce that Imam Ali (as) was his friend? The revelation came with an assurance that Allah would protect the Holy Prophet after making the announcement, because the succession was being confirmed and there were people in the crowd who were going to be upset and rebellious. However, the word mawla has different definitions in arabic, Most translate it as Master, leader, owner, guide, helper. In the Holy Quran, the words mawla, awla, WALI are all used to refer to guidance and leadership. For friendship the Holy Quran tends to use the words khaleel, sadiq and hameem. Following the proclamation by the Holy Prophet, numerous Sunni scholars (including Jalaluddin Al-Suyuti and Ismail ibn Kathir) go on to narrate that another verse was revealed to the Holy Prophet: This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you, and have chosen for you as religion al-Islam (Surah 5, Verse 3) This was the final verse of the Holy Quran, revealed after the announcement of the succession of Imam Ali (as) at Ghadeer-e-Khum. Islam was not complete until the caliphate of Imam Ali (as) was announced, revealed and made clear to the Muslim ummah. Otherwise, you have to believe that the religion was only complete after the Holy Prophet declared Imam Ali (as) to be his friend - rather nonsensical. Furthermore, after the declaration of Imam Alis (as) status, Fakhr al-Din al-Razi and Ahmad ibn Hanbal both narrate that Umar ibn Khattab was amongst the first people to congratulate Imam Ali (as). Well done ibn Abu Talib! Today you became the master of all believing men and women, Ameer al-Momineen! The event of Ghadeer-e-Khum makes it clear that Imam Ali (as) was the Holy Prophets successor. Besides that there are other examples from the Holy Prophets life. Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari narrates in his Tarikh al-Tabari: The Prophet (SAW) asked three times, at a dinner for his friends and relatives, who will help him in his prophetic mission? On each occasion, only Imam Ali (as) stood up and said he would. Twice the Prophet (SAW) asked Imam Ali (as) to sit down. On the third occasion, the Prophet (SAW) said, Verily this is my brother, my successor and my caliph amongst you. Therefore, listen to him and obey. Abu Lahab (the Prophets paternal uncle) said to Abu Talib (his brother and Imam Alis (as) father) The Prophet (SAW) has told you to obey your own son. (#reff Sahih Muslim, Book 031, Number 5920..
