ALS is a terrible disease. I had a friend who was taken by this debilitating malady a few years ago. Its heart wrenching to see and so prevalent. Remember the Gary Cooper movie in which he portrayed the great Lou Gehrig? Well, they dont show the real consequences; slow strangulation upon yourself from failure of your muscles to retract. I was caught up in this Facebook virus by my cousins Will and David French when they challenged me to go for the ice water bucket. Im honored they did it, and would do it a thousand times if a cure can be found. Awareness is knowledge and knowledge creates hope. From hope we must be led to the cure.
