AMEREN Req. # 12675 Title: Student Engineer Intern (Civil or Mechanical Engineering) Location: Peoria, IL Position Description: Student Engineer Intern will begin in May 2014 and end in August 2014. Duties include but are not limited to assisting engineers and technical specialists in design and project management activities to complete plans, designs, cost estimates, integrity management activities and construction management related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of gas facilities with emphasis on safety, reliability, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. Activities include developing engineering designs, cost estimates, and project management for gas distribution lines, meter and regulator stations. - Plan, design, budget, engineer, and manage gas construction projects related to reliability, government highway projects, system growth, and essential maintenance for the gas transmission system. Ensure and maintain Gas Code Compliance activities. As required, prepare bid packages and present information to contractors at bid meetings. - Assist with Corrosion, Storage, and Pipeline Integrity activities including design, construction, maintenance, pigging, and code compliance. Contribute to the development and implementation of department and division goals. Identify and implement improvements in processes and operations to control costs and improve productivity. - Participate in special projects or tasks, including emergencies, as required. Work location is primarily in an office environment, although construction site visits/inspections involving outside activities are required periodically. Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: Student pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil and Mechanical is preferred from an accredited college or university. Other engineer disciplines from an accredited college or university may be considered. Completed course work in engineering through the sophomore level with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Graduate students are welcome to apply. EXPERIENCE: None required. OTHER: Good analytical, communication, and human relations skills.
