Rebukes from Speaker Boehner, that such an action would “poison the well” have gone unheeded in an almost retribution-style act that appears to be a spiteful and vengeful effort to declare his supremacy and authority, especially in the shadow of his November 4 defeat. I anticipate this executive contention to be announced late on a Friday or over a holiday weekend when people are engaged in family or holiday activities, even though the president’s own advisors have urged him to wait until AFTER the December 11 Budget Appropriations.
