AN ADVICE FOR THE NEW STUDENT UNION EXECUTIVES. Creativity is conceptualizing an idea and bringing it to reality In moving your organization forward with creativity, believe in the creative instincts of your team mates as u believe in yours You cant move the ASSOCIATION forward alone, you need others, trust the people you work with! . Challenge your team, encourage them and give them room to operate [while you observe closely] If an individual wants to be creative but is not given room to operate, it would kill his/her initiative Anyone with a lost/killed initiative can neither be inventive nor innovative, this is why your team needs room 2 operate . In your team REWARD creativity more than you punish failure. Rebuke a team member who has failed in secret, celebrate creative ideas openly doing this creates the atmosphere* for creativity within d team &motivates people to come up with great ideas A seemingly stupid idea is a spring board to a creative idea, every idea is needed . Every idea has got a time factor, some ideas may be ridiculous today, but greatly needed tomorrow Ask yourself can this idea be used right now? If d answer is yes go ahead & use it. If d No save it in a journal There are three things you should consider every idea with: 1) Is it competitive? 2) Does it meet my consumers need Is it in line with the country or people’s choice? If you want to be creative, you must learn to ask questions. The kind of questions you ask determine d kind of answers you get.
