AN OPEN LETTER TO ALHAJI ALIKO DANGOTE, MFR, GCON Our dearest Alhaji Dangote I must first commend you for your fighting spirit, self-confidence, courageous, risk taking, extraordinary, focused, and for believing in yourself and our MAKER. Alhaji, I was reading your profile online some time ago and was really touched with this statement you made, "I can remember when I was in primary school, I would go and buy cartons of sweets (sugar boxes) and I would start selling them just to make money. I was so interested in business, even at that time." This means that as a child, you had discovered who you were and many people who discovered their dreams at that time and probably have lost it in the course of time. Their parents may have been richer than yours. Though, you were born into a wealthy family, your riches and present attainment in life is not as a result of being born by wealthy parents. You are a great achiever and fulfilled dreamer because you had the ability to discover who you were and the vision to put into practice what you actually have passion for and GOD blessed the work of your hands. You studied “BUSINESS STUDIES” in Al-Azhar University, Cairo – Egypt which was in-line with the kind of vision and dream you had. You had the opportunity to study other programmes but rather chose to do exactly what could develop you and help you actualize your dreams. As you failed on your way, which I am sure happened many times, you kept moving and believing in yourself. Despite the obstacles you faced, you strongly believed in our MAKER and He has in-turn really assisted you, which everyone can witness and point at today. It is our prayer that GOD should continue to remain with you till eternity for the betterment of every common man in the World. I was always touched and motivated whenever I watch or listen to your inspiring, educating, insightful and informative speeches. You have all the qualities to contest for Nigerian President in any of the political parties but you chose not because it is not part of your vision and dream. You speak with passion, you do not underrate people neither do you criticize religion. Your various companies and their subsidiaries recruited many competent and technical-know-how employees across the globe not just based on religion or tribal sentiment. You are moved with intelligent, seasoned, and purpose driven people. I heard you are very humble and straightforward. I have no doubt about that. You have assisted many countries and their citizens. You are kind enough as you keep donating fund for the development and enhancement of human capital in Nigeria. Even if you choose not to, your companies have already recruited over 10,000 employees across the globe. If people are engaged and developed; there will be life expansion in the society and self-satisfaction will come on the long run. It is when there is lack of job opportunities that people tend to commit various crimes. Your contributions to the growth of this nation have made many Nigerians to truly believe in the “Power of the Selfless”. You made me to remember Late Chief MKO Abiola of blessed memory who bought an Aircraft for one African country that could not afford a private jet for her President then. He was a great philanthropist from whom every Nigerian benefited from. You wear a bigger shoe than that of Late Chief MKO Abiola because you operate in an environment where its country’s population has tremendously increased by millions. You are an influential person who the world recognizes as one of the richest and influential living persons on earth. You so much believe in Nigeria that the largest parts of your investments are operating in this country. You will recall this statement you made sometimes ago "Let me tell you this and I want to really emphasize it...nothing is going to help Nigeria like Nigerians bringing back their money. If you give me $5 billion today, I will invest everything here in Nigeria. Let us put our heads together and work." This statement and lots more are reasons I am always inspired by you. You are one of those Nigerian Billionaires who invests massively to the growth and betterment of his citizenry. That is why you often donate to the needy and natural disaster victims. Some of the supports you often make include: flood relief, healthcare, and poverty reduction through human development in small scale business and education. What else develops a country, if it were not these few areas? Nigerians are too religious that we observe our praying and fasting regularly during the periods. You are presently joining your brothers and sisters in Islam to seek the mercy and forgiveness of our MAKER towards the development of our LAND. You are very religious and committed in Islam. I saw one of your pictures where you were eating with some other friends as your religion expounds. Finally, no doubt, many Nigerians will be writing you to give them money to embark on various businesses of their choice. You will recall that, after you finished your programme in Al-Azhar University, Cairo; your uncle, Alhaji Sanusi Abdulkadir Dantata, lent you N500,000 when you were 21years old to start a business. Of focus you are capable to give N50million each to every fund seeker to start a business, as a reprisal of what your Uncle did for you. They may truly and judiciously utilize the money for the growth and expansion of their businesses. However, it is certain that they may not grow below a certain level and yet some of them will come to seek another fund from you. Therefore, your riches and wealth of today come not by the strength and might of your past but through the MERCY and GRACE of the Almighty GOD. Please, keep serving and believing in Him. Alhaji, let the ball continues to roll as you are one of the richest, influential, philanthropy, humanitarian, dedicated, generous, kind, and godly persons on earth.
