AND THE WORLD REVOLVES ONCE MORE I had a friend and he had me; But the world keeps on turning And like seaweed, I am washed upon the shore For the sand to soak up my tears. And life continues to be life, And loneliness is but a word. He sails on with majesty adorned The world stares at me And by the world I am scorned. The sun sinks, the nightbird sings Then, out of the dark and empty sky Comes a brilliant flash of light Like an earthquake, it splits the night A voice shouts, “The storm has broken!” But, no!...Wait a moment longer! As a second streak of light bursts forth A shape is seen above the horizon— The nose of a ship bound north And then a third flash, followed by another. Silence reigns, but I shall mourn… The waves roll in, and the waves roll out; Amongst the foam a seaweed strand Floats on out to meet the dawn… …And the world revolves once more. © Rosalie A.
