ANNOUNCEMENT: It is with no small amount of disappointment that we are POSTPONING the 2014 Ghost Ride Century will not be taking place on Saturday, May 10. Our permit was not approved – see explanation below. Rather than cancel the ride, we will postpone the event until August 30. We realize this will create a problem for many of you and will do what we can to make everything right on a one-by-one basis if necessary. We will do the following to try and make things right. 1. Carry EVERY registration over to the new date and give a FREE pair of Ghost Ride cycling socks to each person currently registered. 2. If you are unable to attend the August 30 event, we will refund your entry fee in full – just contact us. 3. Transfer your registration to the July 21 Bear Lake Monster Century if desired. 4. Issue every currently registered participant a 50% off discount code to use for a different Extra Mile Racing LLC event. 5. Mail any pre-purchased jerseys to those who have them coming. THE EXPLANATION: In short, we screwed up. This is embarrassing on our end of things and we do not blame anyone but ourselves. Obtaining event permits is never a simple process. We sent in all requested paperwork months ago and have our permit from Tooele County. But, as is not uncommon, the UDOT permit takes a little more time but usually isn’t a problem if you’re taking the appropriate steps. We sent an inquiry to UDOT on Monday, May 5 asking what the status of the permit was and they informed us the event did not have the proper paperwork they had requested – somehow we missed an email a few weeks ago from UDOT requesting clarifications on our route. Because we did not reply, we did not get things cleared and there is a road construction project or two along the route that UDOT feels will make the route not as safe as they’d like. So we’re OFF on May 10, but moving to August 30. Again, we are sincerely embarrassed that our error caused this problem and will do anything and everything we can to have a successful event on August 30.
