ANNUAL REPORT OF YEAR 2013-2014 NCC unit of Aquinas College proudly proclaim that we have conducted and carried out numerous notable and quotable activities during this academic year. with the intention of achieving the personality development of the individual. These activities however have provided the cadets opportunities to inculcate values to develop the spirit of service and think through positive direction. Above all these activities have helped them to train themselves disciplined service minded and to become useful citizen to the society and to the nation as a whole. The first meeting of NCC cadets of this academic year 2013-2014 was held on 22-07-2013. Lt Joseph John, ANO made an introductory speech on the aims and objectives of NCC and the activities to be conducted during the academic year. In the Introductory speech he explained the importance of NCC in the educational programme. All the cadets participated in the meeting. Senior cadets instructed the students to improve the quality and magnitude of NCC Programmes in the College. Students got inspiration from the talks given by the senior cadets. Enrolment of new cadets was discussed. During the meeting the cadets prepared an outline of programmes to be conducted during the academic year. The following office bearers were selected. About fourty cadets participated in the environmental day celebrations on 05-06-13 by cleaning the premises of south railway station, Ernakulum.. Cadets of our college were invited to deliver Guard of Honor to the Central and State Ministers in connection with the inauguration of the building of the SDPY HSS. The selection of cadets based on physical fitness was conducted by the PI staff and the ANO. About 79 cadets were selected and the Nominal Roll was published. Independence Day was celebrated on 15-08-2013 and a Piping ceremony was also conducted on the same day. Ranks were distributed to the SUO and JUOs by the ANO and PI staff in an official manner similar to Army. Onam was celebrated by the NCC unit on 07-09-2013. NCC unit of Aquinas College visited ‘GOOD HOPE’ the Relief Settlement at Veli, Fortcochin on 02-10-2013 to understand and study the life style and living conditions of the socially rejected and mentally retarded people. Commanding Officer Lt. Col. N.T. Jose and ANO Lt. Joseph John guided the cadets. 2nd Sunday of every December is observed as “Peace and Solidarity Day” in Fort Cochin.Twenty cadets participated in the Ceremony. NCC Day was celebrated a mega cleaning at Fort Kochi beach on 23 Nov 2013 under aegis of NCC Group Headquarters Ernakulum. About fourty cadets of our institution participated in this mega event Group Commander Capt. Simon Xavier along with Commanding Officer Lt. Col N.T Jose visited our college for the inspection of the Institutional Parade on 07-12-2013. A ‘PROFICIENCY TEST’ as an evaluation of cadets and also as a model examination has conducted on the same day. Thirty five cadets participated in Kochi Marathon race on 29-12-2013. Twenty cadets along with ANO performed volunteer duty. Fifteen cadets joined the race. An ‘INTER PLATOON COMPETITION’ Was conducted for finding talent in cadets On 14-01-14. Also a one day trekking expedition to vagamon was conducted 0n 18-01-2014 by the unit, and fifty cadets were participated in the event. As we look on the achievements, SGT Vironica Joncy N.J passed the SSB interview. This was a record in the history of 21 KER BN NCC, EKM Group Headquarters and Aquinas College. SUO SAHEEL P.Y. of Aquinas College , representing 2 1(K)BN ,NCC GROUP EKM , KERALA & LAKSHADEEP DIRECTORATE have participated in the Attachement and personality development course at INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY, Dehradun from 17-06-2013 to 28-06-13. Two cadets SGT Akhil Johnson and SGT Padmarajan participated in the NIC at Calicut from 20-12-2013 to 31-12-2013.CPL Aswindas T.S was selected to participate in the PRE RD 2 camp at Pangode, Trivandrum from 17-11-2013 to 05-12-2013. Six cadets –SGT Akhil Johnson, SGT Padmarajan, CPL Vishnulal K.M,CPL Sajin, CDT Deepak Antony, CDT Tijo Varghese participated in the camp at Pangode, Trivandrum from 1-9-2013 to 15-09-2013. Fifteen SD cadets of Aquinas College participated in the camp at GPTC, Kalamassery from 20-12-2013 to 29-12-2013. Three SW cadets of Aquinas College participated in the camp at SNVHSS, North Paravur from 20-12-2013 to 29-12-2013. Three cadets Amal Suresh, Immanuel Lesslie and Pranavkumar participated in the camp. The camp is mainly for training the cadets for the RD parade at Delhi.
