ANOTHER SALARY SCANDAL: A list detailing ‘alleged’ staff salaries in the Office of the President was made public earlier this week, causing uproar amongst both Members of Parliament and the general public. According to this list, a majority of the presidents personnel earn a salary lucrative enough to finance the annual development budget of an entire district. In Uganda it is up to parliament to decide the final salaries of public servants, whereas in many other African countries that responsibility falls upon an INDEPENDENT remuneration commission.
