ANYONE SPREADING LIES ABOUT PRESIDENT SATA’S WHEREABOUTS RISK BEING ARRESTED WARNS MWANSA KAPEYA ACTING Chief Government Spokesman Mwansa Kapeya has lashed out at people spreading stories that President Michael Sata was not invited to Israel by that country’s President Shimon Peres. Mr Kapeya said in an interview that people and organisations raising questions about President Sata’s trip are being malicious and do not mean well. He said the Zambian Government received the letter of invitation from President Perez last month and requesting for talks with President Sata to which the Zambian Government agreed. Mr Kapeya said spreading what he called falsehoods about President Sata’s whereabouts risk being arrested for alarming the nation. “What is wrong with us Zambians? We tell you where the President is and you still continue raising unnecessary questions about his trip, his health and everything. Israel invited president Sata and he agreed to go there,” he said. He added, “I have the letter from Israel in my office, I can give you a copy of the invitation letter if you are looking for evidence. As Zambians, let us not thrive in gossip. These stories that President Sata was not invited are malicious and exaggerated.” Speculation is growing after Government confirmed that President Michael Sata is on a working holiday in Israel. Acting Chief Government Spokesman Mwansa Kapeya announced on Sunday that President Sata had left for Tel Aviv on a working holiday and is scheduled to meet outgoing Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres. It has however emerged that Prime Minister Peres is leaving for Washington D.C on Monday for a final meeting with President Barack Obama. The Jerusalem Post and other influential Israeli newspapers are not reporting the state visit by President Sata. President Sata is later this week expected in Malabo,Equatorial Guinea for the African Union summit which officially opens on Wednesday. Source: Lusaka Times
