APC, LP trade words over Amosun’s administration A former Commissioner for Information and Orientation in Ogun State, Sina Kawonise, on Wednesday, asked the Ogun State Government to address issues raised by the former governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel. Kawonise, a chieftain and governorship aspirant of Labour Party in the state was reacting to a comment credited to the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Yusuph Olaniyonu, who described former Governor Daniel’s comment on Amosun’s administration as frivolous and illogical. The former governor, at a Labour Party rally in Ibiade, Ogun waterside area of the state, had described Amosun’s economic policies as retrogressive and Olaniyinu had subsequently described the former governor as a noise maker. Kawonise, in a statement made available to our correspondent on Wednesday in Abeokuta said the state government should address issues raised by Daniel instead of abuses and lies that the Amosun government peddles all around. The state read in part, “The question is: Which of the following recent public statement by Otunba Daniel is frivolous? That the road projects embarked upon by the Amosun governments are mostly misplaced priorities. That the costs of the road projects are grossly inflated and beyond all known parameters of public work costing? But the state Chapter of the All Progressives Congress rose in defence of Amosun, stressing that Daniel should channel his energy “towards extricating himself from the web of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission where he is currently facing prosecution.” The party, in a statement issued by its state Publicity Secretary, Mr. Sola Lawal, said the former governor should not distract his successor from the task of building the state.
