APC govs storm Lafia Wednesday For strategic meeting on 2015 The All Progressives Congress (APC) is intensifying preparations for the 2015 general election as indications emerged on Monday that its elected governors would be converging on Nasarawa State on Wednesday to draw strategies on its action plans. Not less than 10 APC governors are expected at the meeting. The Nigerian Tribune further learnt that some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors had sent representatives from their respective states to observe the meeting. Representatives of the PDP governors, according to a top APC member, would be coming from Sokoto, Kano, Jigawa, Niger, Kwara, and Kebbi States, based on reports so far received at the APC office in the state. Party officials told the Nigerian Tribune in Lafia that the APC Governors’ meeting will hold on Wednesday at the Presidential Lodge, Lafia. The meeting, the first of its kind since the registration of the party a few weeks ago, will have in attendance Governors Raji Fashola of Lagos State, Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State. Others are Governors Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Abdulazeez Abubakar of Zamfara, Ibrahim Geidam of Yobe and Kashima Shettima of Borno. When the Nigerian Tribune went round to see the level of preparedness for the meeting, bill-boards of the 11 APC governors had already been erected at strategic locations apart from the one erected directly opposite the Government House in Lafia. Confirming the meeting in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune in his office on Monday, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Al-Makura, Iliyasu Aliyu Yakubu, said the maiden edition of the APC Governors’ Forum in the state capital would bring good tidings to the state. According to him, another history is being made and the people of the state will forever remember the meeting . “I want to say that APC is like a hurricane or tsunami that will take anybody that stands on its way, just like a moving train, so the state is privileged to host such august visitors in the month of August.” “The meeting will further expose our democracy in Nasarawa state and give the governor another opportunity to sell himself better because he belongs to APC, a party of progressives minded people. “For APC governors to have agreed to come and converge on Lafia, it is a privilege that we will never forget. The governor has visited the meeting venue and every necessary thing has been put in place. “The meeting will further consolidate our democracy in this state and the benefit for Nasarawa state is unquantifiable.”
