APC want to kill many birds with one stone with his choice for the following reasons: 1. He is a pastor of RCCG, and board member of Redeemers University. That will sway millions of votes GEJ garnered from that congregation in 2011 in APC’s favour, and kill off any sympathy votes from Redeemers in favour of PDP. In fact GEJ will be unable to go kneel in front of Adeboye again. 2. It will further discredit the religious fanaticism tag on Buhari, although that has been greatly dispelled now. People are more concerned about corruption and insecurity than any other factor. 3. He is an in-law of Awolowo, and also a native of Ikenne (Awolowo’s town) That will easily endear him to Southwest voters, and will not need much time to hammer that in. 4. APC are more interested in securing bloc votes of SW, which is the game changer, and decider (as it was in 2011). An Amaechi VP will allow SW to be shared by both APC and PDP. But his candidacy will shut out PDP and almost annihilate them, especially when Awolowo’s factor is invoked. Yorubas will say let Awo’s in-law achieve what the man was unable to do, as compensation. 5. APC are not unaware that Jonathan will win Southsouth & Southeast, irrespective of who the VP choice is. Therefore they want to exploit their strength to the maximum, instead of playing on PDPs weakness. 6. If Buhari secures the North, and Osinbajo secures SW, then it does not matter what Jonathan gets from SS & SE. They will win. 7. None of the other candidates can secure SW better than Osinbajo, not even Fayemi (because of his family ties and Awolowo roots factor) 8. He is also a very sound intellectual, a Professsor of Law and an economist. An accomplished administrator and man with a very clean pedigree that nothing can be found against, if PDP decides to play dirty politics. His choice gives APC the impetus to hammer on integrity.
