AQELA SUSU SUVA The National Federation Party will continue the Bainimarama Government’s Tertiary Education Loan and Scholarship Scheme, if it wins government in September. Party leader Dr Biman Prasad revealed this during a party’s campaign meeting in Savusavu last week. He said the party would continue the TELS scheme introduced by the Bainimarama Government, however they would also introduce measures to ensure students who gained less than 300 marks would also have access to the scholarship scheme. “There are very good students from poor families who attain good marks just below 300 and miss out on scholarships. Currently such students receive loans for tertiary education but we will ensure that students who fall in this category receive scholarship,” Dr Prasad said. He confirmed close to a hundred people attended the meeting and raised various concerns in relation to developments that needed to be carried out in their area. “People also expressed concern at the lack of infrastructure development like sewerage system and lack of action to ensure Savusavu becomes a port of entry. Even after announcing this, there is lack of action to facilitate this,” he said. Feedback: [email protected]
