ARE SOME DINKA ELDERS MISLEADING AS THE GOVERNOR OF WESTERN EQUATORIA PUT IT? Jan 19, 2015 By: Ocholamero Otir Bure Oroto South Sudanese need open & honest dialogue, public discourses and non-violent deliberation to iron their differences and touch on the reality without beating around the bush. South Sudanese do not need unnecessary presidential decrees to resolves differences. I think if the governor was to accused all Dinka, I would denounce his points, however, referring to some is indeed a point that is easy to be supported by the rate of atrocities caused in South Sudan on aggregate to be precise. All intellectuals and leaders who are of influence need to do what I call honest communal auditing. Every community need to reflect deeply and found out how much they are contributing toward harmonization and peace in the nation? How much is each community contributing in the violence that is disintegrating the nation? Honest and open answers will set the right direction for the entire nation to realise peace and harmony without wasting time and without killing the next innocent person. Otherwise, the leaders are just wasting their time not talking about the problem affecting South Sudanese. The Dinka council of elders might not see the rationale for Governors point. Their called for the president to deal with the governor is yet another way of starting another issue if not approached with a political attention. The governor suggested that the leaders should see each other eyes to eyes and question themselves about the state of affairs in question. That is open and Frank preposition. That requires more deliberation to understand the rationale for such utterance. The Dinka councils of elders are right that speeches that hinders unity should not be entertained. However, If they need unity they should start by advising the president to accept peace and allow the diversity of the nation to prevail appropriately. How could unity come under a regime that had divided the nation and continuing to do so openly. It is so unfortunate! South Sudan is a hell on earth already to majority. Instead of trying to resolves simple issue politically by means of civilised manner, people tend to prefer violence because those people in authority failed in their proper role to govern. It is really sad! Sad indeed! This is all due to the manipulation of the constitutional design that corrupted the president and his associates. We hope the truth and justice will prevail at the end. Those who engineered all this turmoil will one day face the music. If the president and his faceless associates dont take lead in bringing peace and accept the natural set up the country, they will continue to disintegrate the nation leading to nasty period before they might come to their senses South Sudanese should mind peace, intimidation of others shouldnt be entertained by the sitting government and the government should accept their mistakes over the years in cultivating hatreds consciously or unconsciously. If government continue to be passive in protecting other sections of the society, the trust of the masses will continue to decline drastically. There is no questions about that. It is the fact that will not be reversed as long as bad governance is in practice! If South Sudan is to be in peace, all South Sudanese should collectively accept that they are all equal. Whoever is in power should deliver necessary services and serve the nation fairly. Rule of law and norms of a given society should be followed. No one should go to another State and cause havoc. When I am in another State, I should behaves according to the norms detected by the people of that State period. Government should protect civilians equally. Such act among others will build trust of the citizens on their government. All in all, if a dispute arises, open civilized dialogue should be learned and put in practice, where necessary, reconciliation should be given a chance without killing any vital human being...Life is vital. People should learn to value life in general People should respect others accordingly. Otherwise, South Sudanese are entrapped in the cycle of addressing violence with violence because it is proven language that some people tend to listen to as far as the current military-political leaders are concerned. May peace and harmony come to South Sudan by use of political dialogue and non-violent agreement. Note: The above article was originally published on Jan 17, 2015 on other Equatorias Facebook page
