ARE YOU NOT PROUD THAT YOU KNOW CHRIST ? The Word of God is God; and understanding the word is understanding His being, message, instructions or commands and sovereignty. Understanding the Word of God is not mere interpretation of words but through the Holy Spirit who understands the mind of God. The word boast which is being proud of ones performance or accomplishment or of something revered in scriptures is being misinterpretted by many as an abominable word for believers. In Eph. 2:8-9; were saved by grace through faith and not by our works lest anyone should boast. What a gracious God we serve. But thank God and feel proud that when you were saved, you did not allow Gods grace to go waste but continue to live under His tabernacle and still abide in Him. A distinction should be made of foolish pride and Holy pride; or foolish boasting and holy boasting. Please follow this carefully. Foolish pride: The Bible makes it clear that pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before fall (Prov. 16:18). James 4:6 reminds us that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. God through the prophet Hosea, warned, When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me. Hosea 13:6. Some Christian leaders, pastors or workers in Gods vineyard allows their position and success to result in pride. Allocating part of Gods glory to yourself is self-conceitfulness and it is foolish pride. It is this kind of pride, this foolish pride which pushes God aside that is being referred to, in Eph. 2:8-9. God opposes this kind of foolish pride. And now Holy Pride: 1 Cor. 1:31; Therefore, as it is written: Let him who boasts boast in the Lord. Where is it written ? In Jer. 9:23-24, it written; Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strongman boast of his strength or the richman boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these i delight, declares the Lord. Boasting in the knowledge of God is Holy boasting and it delights God. But be sure that your boasting is the truth of your character. Paul said in 2 Cor.11 :10; As surely as the truth of Christ is in me, nobody in the region of Achaia will stop this boasting of mine. He goes on to say in Gal. 6:3-5; If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take PRIDE in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load. However, let us be cautious and discerning, very careful. Let our prayer be Gal. 6:14: May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Take pride in yourself, feel proud that you know God, stand on mountain tops and roof tops and shout that you understand and know the saviour, Jesus Christ. Behold, He is the Lord; He is worthy. Jesus, we love you and very proud and privileged to have you. Nothing is too hard for you, Lord; Please continue to let your Holy Spirit open our understanding and draw us more closer to you in Jesus name, amen.
