ARTIST OF THE DAY: ADRIAN ARTHUR May 17 - 18, Site 236: 4248 Beechmont Avenue, San Jose, CA 95136 svos.org/artist.php?id=2471 The glimpse of a human face is enough to convey entire volumes of emotional sentiment. My work explores the power of the portrait - in the sculptural, oil, and abstract aspects. By exaggerating portions of a face Im able to invite my audience to interact and respond deeply to my creations. The varied potential of human-ness inspires my creativity - to take abstraction to the level of interesting, but still recognizable. The deviation of art from photographic reality is how it connects with our hidden layers of emotional cognition. By exploring this connection and inspiring my audience, I hope to reconnect society to its emotional context, so easily lost in todays world of tv, cell-phones, and overworked families.
