ARTISTS ALLEY Announcement #7 CHARLES SANTOSO What do you do? I’m a concept artist/visual development artist for feature films and illustrator for picture books and novels. What are some of your favourite jobs you have worked on? Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’hoole, The Lego Movie and children book projects that will be out in 2015. What is your favourite comic? Why? There are lots of them, I don’t think I can pick just one as my favourite. Some of picks on top of my head are Calvin and Hobbes, Doraemon, anything by Naoki Urasawa, anything by Inoue Takehiko, Akira, The Arrival, Blacksad, Hellboy, Jimmy Corrigan, Superman: Secret Identity, You are just jealous of my jetpack. I like them because they all have some unique stories and they are told from the heart by the author and illustrator. What is the comic you havent read but shouldve by now? Why? There are lots of comics that I haven’t got a chance to read because of my work schedule. I do like being surprised by work that I see by accident. I usually go to Kinokuniya and try to see books that catch my eyes.
