AS POSTED BY FORMER GUIUAN MAYOR ANNALIZA GONZALES --- Facebook Status Update By Annaliza Gonzales To all my beloved fellow Guiuananons and friends, I arrived Manila tonight on board a private plane to seek help and audience with the authorities to amplify the status of the disaster in our town. Focus is on other places and my heart bleeds that Guiuan which was so badly hit is left behind in as far as help and attention is concern. It is day 5 now, and people are hungry and getting sick. I am here in Manila to represent Guiuan. Mayor Sheen is left in Guiuan managing operations, and I will try my luck here in Manila because it is here where we can get the most help. Update as of November 12, 2013: casualties - 85; missing - 24; injured 960+; no electricity, no communication; all school buildings in all barangays were destroyed; our heritage church, including chapels in the barangays; municipal hall, gymnasium and other government and non government offices were destroyed as well; 99.9% of houses are roofless and destroyed including mine; LGU disaster operation is functioning well, distribution of relief goods are ongoing (already on 2nd wave) - from the Municipal Govt of Guiuan, Provl Govt of Eastern Samar and DSWD; however, i feel sad to tell you that no relief goods to the islands yet because of transportation problem, but Mayor Sheen was assured today by the AFP that a chopper will be deployed this morning to bring relief goods to them; medical teams are arriving; those badly injured and very sick were airlifted to Cebu on board C130 - 2 trips today; The typhoon was so strong, i thought it was the end of the world. Our town sufferred so much and I dont know how we will be able to move on and how we will recover. Let us all leave it to God and our Patroness. They know best. I know they will not leave us in this time of trials and difficulties. It is time to be patient and kind. I wish that Guiuananons will instill love rather than hate, understanding and forgiveness, most of all, lets hold hands together as Guiuananons. Our time to unite is now! I need your prayers that my mission here be successful, I will be back to Guiuan in 2 days. Will keep you posted. Thank you and may God bless us all!
